Biography

Shubham Gupta is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society at the University of Notre Dame. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur. His research work is centered on Natural Language Processing, Graph Representation Learning, LLMs/SLMs, and Multimodal Information Retrieval.
Throughout his doctoral studies, Shubham specialized in developing graph-based solutions for real-world problems, including Event Detection and the mitigation of misinformation through Fake News Detection. His research methodology emphasizes the integration of diverse data modalities to improve robustness and accuracy of state-of-the-art. Beyond his academic background, Shubham brings seven years of industry experience building AI applications at leading companies such as Dell, NTTData, and Landis+Gyr.
At the University of Notre Dame, he is eager to collaborate on projects that solve the problems of knowledge extraction and structural reasoning within large-scale graphs, bringing his expertise in artificial intelligence innovations to have an impact on societal challenges.
